We all
stayed in houses with host families (two per house) and every day we had to
take a bus to go to school in the very centre of Dublin. School started at 9.00
until 13.00 . Then we went to St. Stephen’s Park, which was just a few metres
from the school, to have lunch. We all sat there and had our packed lunch. The
weather was so wonderful that the park was really full at that time!
After lunch we always went for an excursion
somewhere. One day we went around Dublin and visited Trinity College, the
Parliament, The Temple, we crossed the Hapenny Bridge, we saw The Spire and the
Mall, St. Patrick’s and Jesus Christ ´s Cathedrals… the most important sights.
The
following day we visited the Guinness Store and the other we had a concert and
class of Irish Traditional Music and Dance. It was really amusing all of us
trying to dance in such a funny way!!
We also had
time to travel around. We went to, Glendalough , “the valley of the two lakes” where
Saint Kevin lived and died and founded one of the earliest” Monastic Cities and
where some films have been filmed.
We took the
“Dart” –the name of the Irish train-to go to another place ,Howth , a small
fishing village on the coast .There you find a very small island called
Ireland’s Eye where many bird species live. And of course we had there the
typical “fish & chips” because our host families has advised us to.
And the
last day, Friday the 5th,, we had lessons in the morning , and then
at 13.30 we took the Dart again to go to Dulkey , a very nice village on the
coast ,with amazing houses .There we were shown a medieval castle and were invited
to a “fest”. We even minted coins from that time. Really amusing!!
We walked
around the harbour and then went to pack our luggage and say goodbye to our
host families.
We really
had a wonderful week and we all would have liked to stay for , at least, one
more !
