Dorian Bond, interview of a writer.

Perhaps, not many people know him, I didn’t know him either before the school trip to Winchester, but he is actually one of the most important writers about English army history. He had written two books about the famous regiments of the English army, and he is just finishing his third one. So,behind his funny English humor we found on him, his passion for English history also exists

1STQUESTION:
Dorian, everybody knows now about you, but really, how was your education?
Well, in my time, people usually started school at ten years, and I also went to school at Southampton first when I was ten. Then I finished it and I went to Oxford University between 1963 and 1967 to study Ancient History, and that was the end of my training.

2ND QUESTION:
We know that you are a writernowadays , but what about your professional life in the past?
After finishing my preparation, I’ve spent all my life working in the edition of TV documentaries and finally, teaching European teenagers like you.

3RDQUESTION:
Well, Dorian, You have a very commercial name, what do you think?
Yes, my name is Bond, Dorian Bond… that was a joke, but I think my name is quite commercial as you said before.

4RDQUESTION:
What are your hobbies?
In reality, my hobbies are reading; history books, biography books… but no novels, and also I like watching  sports at TV and  looking  after my garden and enjoying it.

5THQUESTION:
Talking about your personal life, are you married? Do you Have sons or daughters?
Yes, I’m married with two sons and three dogs, well, really I have two small ones now because the big one, that came with me from Africa, died three weeks ago, and when I enter at home I feel something is missing.

6THQUESTION:
What were your favourite travels around the world?
In my life I’ve travelled a lot around the world, and I met people from different countries and with different cultures. I went to Hong- Kong, South-Africa, Italy, America… and I want to share all my experiences around the world with my students at class.
¡I’m very happy to have been your student for this week and I hope you luck with your third book!
Thank you very much, goodbye.
