Oscar
Wilde was born at 1854, in the wonderful city of Dublin. His family was a group
of revolutionary writers, success that let him grow his talent. He started
studying at the age of 9 in Port Royal
School, Ireland. His next step in his studies was he Trinity University, in
Dublin. In this prestigious University he studied Classic Literature during
three years. At the end of his last year he won the Berkeley gold medal, that
was the best recognition for Classic Literature students.
As
he became a big student in Trinity College, he knew that his future would be
out of Ireland, in Oxford. In 1874 he started studying in Oxford University for
four years, and when he finished, he obtained the maximum mark in his career.
Oscar
returned to Dublin for a short period of time, but then he travelled to
different English countries having meetings, speeches… In one of his travels to
London, he met Constance Lloyd. Both fell in love, and Oscar asked her to marry
him. Some time later they got married, had two children… but Oscar was sent to
prison and they took different paths.
When
his literature career was rising, Oscar got the English society shocked due to
a sodomy accusation that led him to the judges. Here Oscar was found guilty and
was forced to make public works during two years.
Oscar Wilde wrote lots of books,
like The Diary of Dorian Gray,
also De Profundis, Lord Arthur Saville Crime and Other
Histories…, poems like Ravenna,
The Sphinx… or Theater works like An Ideal Husband, Salome…He
usually wrote in English, but
sometimes he wrote some poems in French.
Finally he died in a hotel of Paris,
France, in 1900, but before he died he embraced
the christianism.
As a conclusion he was one of the
most influent writers in the modern literature and a big genius that couldn’t
live forever.
